BY PLANE

Travelling by air is the fastest and most convenient way to reach the Algarve Circuit, especially for international visitors. Here are the main options.

Faro Airport (FAO)

Location: Faro Airport is the nearest major airport to the Algarve Circuit, situated approximately 85 km east of the circuit.
Flights: The airport is well-connected to numerous European cities, with frequent flights operated by major airlines like British Airways, Lufthansa, and low-cost carriers such as Ryanair and EasyJet. During the peak season, additional charter flights may be available.

Ground Transportation:

  • Car Rental: Several car rental companies, including Avis, Hertz, and Europcar, operate at Faro Airport. Renting a car is a convenient option, allowing you to explore the Algarve region at your own pace. The drive to the circuit takes about an hour via the A22 motorway.
  • Airport Shuttle: Shuttle services, such as Shuttle Direct and Yellowfish Transfers, offer shared and private transfers from Faro Airport to various destinations in the Algarve, including Portimão and the circuit.
  • Taxi: Taxis are readily available at the airport. The journey to the Algarve Circuit by taxi takes about an hour and costs approximately €90-€120.
  • Public Transport: You can take a bus from Faro Airport to Faro city centre, and then a train or bus to Portimão. From Portimão, local buses or taxis can take you to the circuit. This option is more time-consuming but budget-friendly.

Lisbon Airport (LIS)

Location: Lisbon Airport is located approximately 290 km north of the Algarve Circuit.
Flights: Lisbon Airport is the main international gateway to Portugal, with extensive connections to major cities worldwide, including New York, London, Paris, and Frankfurt. Airlines such as TAP Air Portugal, British Airways, and Emirates operate regular flights to Lisbon.

Ground Transportation:

  • Car Rental: Major car rental companies like Sixt, Budget, and Enterprise operate at Lisbon Airport. Renting a car allows you to enjoy a scenic drive south to the Algarve. The drive to the circuit takes about 2.5 to 3 hours via the A2 and A22 motorways.
  • Train: From Lisbon Airport, take a taxi or the metro to Lisbon's Oriente or Entrecampos train stations. CP trains (Comboios de Portugal) offer regular services to Portimão, including the Alfa Pendular and Intercidades trains. The train journey takes around 3.5 hours. From Portimão, take a taxi or local bus to the circuit.
  • Bus: Rede Expressos and Eva Transportes provide frequent bus services from Lisbon Sete Rios bus station to Portimão. The bus journey takes approximately 3.5 to 4 hours. From Portimão, you can take a local bus or taxi to the circuit.
